Lufthansa Group to roll out Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi across 850 aircraft
Lufthansa Group has announced a partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink to provide high-speed, low-earth orbit satellite internet across its fleet. The rollout begins on August 19, 2026, with a Lufthansa Airbus A320neo. The group aims to equip approximately 850 aircraft by 2029, making it the largest airline group in Europe to adopt this technology.
The service will be available across all travel classes and includes airlines such as SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, Edelweiss, Discover Airlines, Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa City Airlines, and Eurowings. High-speed connectivity is intended to support video streaming, cloud-based work, and other data-intensive applications.
Access to the service will be free of charge for Miles & More members and Travel ID users. To maintain onboard etiquette, passengers must adhere to specific usage rules, including wearing headphones for audio/video content and refraining from making voice or video calls and live streaming. Mastercard will sponsor the new Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi portal.
