Vincenzo La Foresta killed by motorbike on Messina’s Viale Gazzi

On the night of July 7‑8, 2026, 49‑year‑old Vincenzo La Foresta, known online as “Enzo Miao”, was fatally struck while crossing the pedestrian crossing on Viale Gazzi in Messina, near the Quasimodo Institute. The crash involved a Honda Africa Twin ridden by a 40‑year‑old man; the impact was described as violent, sending the rider’s motorcycle into pieces and hurling the victim’s body several metres.

Emergency services attempted resuscitation but La Foresta was pronounced dead at the scene. The municipal police, led by commanders Giovanni Giardina and Giovanni Arizzi, secured the area, collected video‑surveillance footage and eyewitness statements, and seized the motorcycle. The prosecutor has opened a road‑homicide inquiry, ordering an autopsy and toxicological tests on the driver, as well as checks on the motorcycle’s insurance status.

The incident sparked widespread mourning in the Gazzi and Provinciale districts, with numerous messages of condolence posted on social media. La Foresta was remembered as a friendly, hardworking local figure. The investigation remains ongoing.
