Lugano ranked world's most expensive city for dining

According to the latest data from the international database Numbeo, Lugano has been ranked as the most expensive city in the world for restaurants and bars. The ranking is based on a basket of everyday consumer items rather than luxury dining, including fast food menus, inexpensive meals, cappuccinos, beers, and three-course dinners at mid-range establishments.

Lugano's dining costs are approximately 30% higher than New York, over 50% higher than London, and nearly 80% higher than Milan and Paris. Within Switzerland, Lugano also surpasses other major cities such as Zurich, Geneva, Basel, and Bern, with price differences ranging between 7% and 20%.

To illustrate the regional price gap, a mid-range dinner for two in Lugano costs approximately 145 Swiss francs, whereas the same experience in nearby Como, Italy, costs around 78 euros.
