Lugano showcases design, culture, and seasonal tourism
Lugano serves as a significant hub for design, culture, and seasonal tourism in Switzerland. In the city center, Francisco Dias and Sandra Sain have transformed a historic early 20th-century building on Corso Elvezia into a creative residence. Dias, a scenographer for Radio Televisione Svizzera (RSI), and Sain, a prominent figure in Italian-Swiss culture and director of Rete Due, have integrated art and design into their living space through extensive renovations, including the restoration of original wood surfaces and the installation of resin flooring.
The region also offers various cultural and nature-based experiences. Upcoming events include the Autumn Festival in Lugano, scheduled for October 2–4, 2026, which features local wines, traditional Ticino specialties, and artisanal markets. Additionally, the ArtInBosco project in Capriasca turns forests into open-air galleries with seasonal art installations, while the Chestnut Trail in Alto Malcantone provides scenic views of Monte Rosa through ancient woodlands.
