Lugenalpe mountain hut showcases Alpine tradition

The Lugenalpe, located at 1,414 m in the Allgäu Alps near Oberstdorf, Germany, is run by the Huber family during the summer months. Visitors can experience on‑site baked bread, cheeses, butter and other dairy products produced in a wood‑fired oven and a traditional alpine setting, with supplies delivered by helicopter.

The nearby Hohenzollernhaus, a historic alpine shelter at 2,123 m in the Radurschltal near Pfunds, Austria, has been operating for over a century. Managed by the German Alpine Club, it offers basic accommodation in shared rooms and dormitories, meals featuring Tyrolean specialties, and serves as a base for multiple high‑altitude hiking routes.
