Lugo and Astorga film festivals formalize twinning agreement

The Semana de Cine de Lugo and the Festival de Cine de Astorga have formalized a twinning agreement to promote collaboration and the exchange of experiences between the two film festivals. The signing ceremony took place at the Casa do Concello in Lugo, attended by local officials including Lugo Mayor Elena Candia and Astorga Councilor Laura Torralba.

The partnership draws inspiration from the shared Roman history of both cities, which were connected by the Vía XIX. The agreement aims to foster joint initiatives and cultural connections through cinema. A follow-up meeting is scheduled to take place in Astorga on October 23.

The Astorga Film Festival, founded in 1998, has recently gained recognition from the Spanish Film Academy as a qualifying festival for the Goya Awards in the short film category.
