Lugo food commerce workers call strike over wage disputes

The CIG union has called for a strike in the food commerce sector in the province of Lugo, scheduled for October 10. The action follows a reported lack of progress in negotiations regarding the provincial collective agreement.

Union representatives criticized employers, specifically mentioning companies such as Gadis and Froiz, for refusing to meet social demands and allegedly delaying the formation of the negotiating committee. The CIG is seeking a two-year agreement that includes a 14% salary increase for 2026 and 5% for 2027. The union noted that current pay disparities in Lugo are significant compared to other regions in Galicia.
