Infrastructure and transport projects advance across Romania and Moldova

Various infrastructure and public service updates are being implemented across Romania and Moldova. In Bucharest, the city will receive €87.44 million in non-reimbursable European funds to modernize the STB public transport fleet. This investment, confirmed as a priority by the European Investment Bank, will fund the acquisition of 10 new trams, 45 trolleybuses, and 40 electric buses to replace aging diesel and older electric models.

In Moldova, the R3 national road has been rehabilitated across 22 kilometers, connecting Ialoveni and Hâncești to improve safety and traffic flow.

In Romania, several regional projects are underway: the modernization of the road to Pârvești Monastery in Vaslui has been completed; the construction of a multifunctional sports complex in Craiova has secured over €40 million in European funding; and the DN73 road between Brașov and Pitești is nearing completion after 15 years of work. Additionally, Timișoara is progressing with urban regeneration in the Traian area, including heating network replacements, while Lugoj is conducting public fountain disinfection.

On a broader scale, experts warn that cardiovascular diseases cost the European economy over €282 billion annually, emphasizing the need for better prevention and early diagnosis to mitigate productivity losses.
