Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan assures investors of Indonesia’s economic stability
Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Chairperson of the National Economic Council, has assured domestic and international investors that Indonesia’s economic fundamentals remain strong despite global uncertainty. Speaking at the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum in Jakarta, he stated, “Indonesia will not collapse,” and encouraged investors to proceed without hesitation due to the country’s healthy long-term prospects.
Pandjaitan noted that while Indonesia faces domestic challenges, the government is actively working to improve industrial capacity, governance, and human resource quality. He highlighted a strategic shift in Indonesia’s investment approach, moving beyond simple technology transfer toward joint innovation and research and development (R&D).
In key sectors such as nickel, batteries, and electric vehicles (EV), Pandjaitan urged international partners to collaborate more deeply by establishing joint laboratories and involving Indonesian engineers in direct technology research. He emphasized the need for patient capital to support early-stage research and the importance of scaling successful pilot projects through sustained investment.
