Luigi Cavallari, husband of Italy's family minister, remains missing in Lake Vico search

Luigi Cavallari, 84, the husband of Italy’s Minister for Family, Fertility and Equal Opportunities Eugenia Roccelli, disappeared on 27 June after a boat trip on Lake Vico in the Viterbo region. Sixteen days after the incident, search operations continue nonstop. Divers from Milan, Reggio Calabria and Florence, along with sonar equipment, underwater robots and other instrumental systems, are combing the lake’s muddy, low‑visibility bottom.

Police, firefighters, the Carabinieri and the financial guard have set up a temporary base near the restaurant Fiorò on the lake’s shore. A local witness told reporters, “Ho visto la barca tornare, la figlia era sotto shock,” describing how he saw the boat return and the minister’s daughter visibly shaken.

Despite the extensive effort, no trace of Cavallari has been found, and the search is still ongoing.
