Minister Eugenia Roccella's Husband Missing in Lake Vico Search

Luigi Cavallari, 84, disappeared on 27 June after diving into Lake Vico in the province of Viterbo. The next day Minister for the Family, Birth and Equality Eugenia Roccella reported the incident and has overseen a continuous search effort.

Rescue teams from the fire service, Carabinieri, State Police and the Guardia di Finanza have been deployed, with divers from Lombardy, Calabria, Sardinia and Lazio assisting. Operations use sonar, underwater drones, ROVs and surface drones day and night, hampered by the lake’s murky, muddy water and limited visibility.

Roccella posted on Facebook, describing the situation as a “tragic and lacerating moment” and thanking the public for an “wave of affection” that helps her cope. The search continues without finding Cavallari’s body.
