Search for Luigi Cavallari Continues in Italy’s Lake Vico
Luigi Cavallari, the husband of Italy’s Minister for Families Eugenia Roccella, vanished on 27 June 2026 while boating on Lake Vico in the province of Viterbo. A month‑long search operation involves divers from Naples, Milan and Taranto, water‑rescue units of the Viterbo fire brigade, local command units and topographers.
The fire brigade explained that “the difficulty in finding Cavallari is due to the depth and the poor visibility”. Rescue teams employ modern sonar, underwater robots and ecological scanning equipment because the lake bottom is muddy, covered with algae and offers limited sight. Despite continuous daily sweeps, no trace of Cavallari has been recovered.
