Luigi Folli painting featured in Sappho exhibition in Rome
Luigi Folli’s painting, ‘Sappho on the Rock of Leucas,’ is being exhibited at the Palatino in Rome as part of a major exhibition dedicated to the ancient Greek poet. Created between approximately 1860 and 1869, the work is part of the AUSL Romagna collections.
The exhibition, which runs from October 15, 2026, to January 31, 2027, is promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the Colosseum Archaeological Park. Curated by Silvia Romani, the event explores the figure of Sappho through the intersection of history, myth, and artistic interpretation.
The loan of the painting represents a significant opportunity for the cultural heritage of the Romagna region. The piece is part of the ‘Care through Art’ project, a distributed museum initiative by AUSL Romagna designed to showcase historical-artistic collections held within public health institutions.
