Luigi Lovaglio sets growth targets for Monte dei Paschi di Siena
CEO Luigi Lovaglio told the board of Monte dei Paschi di Siena that internal relations are solid and the bank is prepared for future growth. He highlighted the strategic integration with Mediobanca as a key step to boost competitiveness and diversify the business, including insurance services.
Lovaglio announced an ambition to lift the bank's market capitalisation to €50 billion, up from the current roughly €26.7 billion. With the share price around €8.8, the target price implied by the €50 billion goal is about €16.5 per share, representing an estimated 87 % upside. Analyst consensus forecasts a price near €10.6, with most analysts rating the stock as a buy.
The CEO framed the plan as a collective effort, stating “all roads lead to Siena,” and emphasized speed in executing industrial plans to navigate a rapidly changing banking sector.
