Luis Abinader highlights infrastructure and investment in San José de Ocoa
President Luis Abinader conducted a government council in San José de Ocoa, highlighting significant infrastructure and social developments in the region. A key achievement is the inauguration of the Nizao-Sabana Larga-Ocoa highway, a 14.4-kilometer road designed to strengthen economic and agricultural connections between the Cibao and Southern regions.
Government officials reported that public investment in San José de Ocoa has reached RD$6,726 million, representing a 94% increase compared to the previous period. This funding has supported over 40 projects, including roadwork, water systems, health facilities, and educational centers. Additionally, new specialized medical units for hemodialysis and diabetic foot care were inaugurated at the Provincial Hospital.
In a social initiative, the government launched the ‘Estufas por Fogones’ program through DASAC, aimed at replacing traditional wood stoves with gas stoves in mountainous areas to protect forests. The program began in Rancho Arriba, benefiting 1,500 families, with plans to expand to other provinces.
During his visit, Abinader challenged political opponents by proposing a comparison between the works completed during his six years in office versus the 20 years of previous administrations. The opposition, specifically the PLD, has contested these claims, arguing that public investment has actually decreased under the current administration.
