Luis Abinader ranks third in Latin American presidential approval ratings
Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader has been ranked as the third highest-rated leader in Latin America according to an October 2026 report by CB Global Data. Abinader holds a 51.9% positive image rating, an increase from 50.8% in September. He follows Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico and Nayib Bukele of El Salvador in the regional ranking.
Politically, Abinader’s decision to adhere to constitutional limits by not seeking a third term has been noted as a significant act of institutionalism. However, this stance has also created internal challenges within his party, the PRM, as various factions have begun organizing to position themselves as potential successors.
