Luis Arraez eyed by multiple teams as MLB trade deadline approaches

ESPN insiders Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel have identified San Francisco Giants second baseman Luis Arraez as the most likely trade candidate, assigning a 95% probability he will be moved before the August 3 deadline. Arraez, batting .323 with a .362 on‑base percentage and the league’s lowest strikeout rate, is linked to eight possible destinations, including the Texas Rangers, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and others.

Former MLB general manager Jim Bowden highlighted the Rangers as a strong fit, noting their need for a second‑base regular and a consistent contact hitter. Bowden proposed a trade that would send Arraez to Texas in exchange for pitching prospect Dalton Pence and infielder Yolfran Castillo, helping the Giants acquire young talent as they look to offload contracts and rebuild.

Arraez has publicly stated he will only play second base for a new team, narrowing the pool of interested clubs. The Giants, sitting at 42‑59, are expected to sell, making Arraez one of their most valuable trade assets.
