MLB: Luis Arráez exits game with injury as Gleyber Torres honors Venezuela
Major League Baseball players are making headlines for both individual performances and personal tributes. Luis Arráez, the current MLB batting leader with a .323 average, was forced to leave a game against the St. Louis Cardinals due to a leg cramp. While the injury appears to be precautionary following a sprint, it has raised questions regarding his continued pursuit of the batting title.
In a separate gesture of solidarity, Gleyber Torres used the MLB ‘Player Weekend’ to honor the victims and heroes of the earthquake that struck La Guaira, Venezuela. Torres wore custom spikes featuring designs of a human chain, the Venezuelan flag, and messages of support such as ‘Venezuela, estamos contigo’ to commemorate those affected by the tragedy.
