Luis Campos discusses PSG squad restructuring and João Neves

Luis Campos, the sporting advisor for Paris Saint-Germain, recently discussed his tenure and recruitment strategies in an interview with the Portugal Football Summit podcast. Having recently extended his contract until 2030, Campos reflected on the challenges of his first year at the club, describing it as a period of significant restructuring. He noted that upon his arrival, the squad was disorganized, consisting of 52 players, including 31 in the dressing room, which he believed made winning impossible under those conditions.

Campos also detailed the recruitment of midfielder João Neves, who joined the club in the summer of 2024. Campos explained that the decision was based on Neves's ability to provide intensity and link defense to attack through high-pressure play and strong decision-making. He categorized Neves as a 'B1' player—a young talent capable of evolving into an 'A1' status, becoming one of the most vital players on a team. Neves has since become a key figure in Luis Enrique’s squad.
