Luis Caputo compares Argentine economic model to Shenzhen's development
During the 30th Export Day event organized by the Chamber of Exporters of the Argentine Republic (CERA), Economy Minister Luis Caputo defended the current administration's economic direction. Caputo projected that Argentina's economy will grow by approximately 2.5% this year, following growth rates of 6.7% and 3.5% in previous periods. He also highlighted that the country has achieved its fourth consecutive year of financial surplus.
Caputo drew a comparison between Argentina's current policies and the development of Shenzhen, China, during the 1980s. He cited a report describing how Shenzhen transitioned through market liberalization, deregulation, and tax incentives to become a technological hub. The Minister suggested that the current Argentine government is following a similar path of reducing bureaucracy and promoting market-driven growth.
In his address, Caputo criticized previous economic models as being purely financial, characterized by deficits funded through debt and money printing. He emphasized the current administration's efforts to improve infrastructure and reduce regulatory burdens, noting that 17,000 regulations have been eliminated.
