Argentine Economy Minister Luis Caputo is traveling to Bangkok, Thailand, to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. A primary objective of the trip is to advance negotiations regarding the third review of Argentina's current economic program, which could unlock a US$900 million disbursement.

Caputo will be accompanied by Vice Minister José Luis Daza and Central Bank President Santiago Bausili. The delegation aims to secure approval for the pending audit following a technical mission in Buenos Aires in late September. While the government expresses confidence, officials are preparing for potential discussions regarding a fiscal deviation recorded during the first half of the year, which may necessitate a waiver request.

As a counterpoint to fiscal challenges, the delegation will highlight that the Central Bank has exceeded its reserve targets, having accumulated over US$14 billion in foreign exchange purchases.

Separately, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has issued warnings regarding global economic risks, specifically citing the uneven impact of artificial intelligence, rising energy costs, and high levels of public debt as major challenges for policymakers.
