Luis Cruz rescues toddler from traffic in Puebla, Mexico

Luis Cruz, a manager at the Super King El Rey del Ahorro supermarket in Puebla, Mexico, rescued a young girl from oncoming traffic on September 6, 2026. Surveillance footage captured the moment the child ran into a busy roadway after a woman attempting to chase her slipped and fell.

Cruz sprinted into the street and shielded the child just seconds before a silver minivan passed through the area. Both the manager and the girl sustained only minor bumps from the fall and were reported to be safe. Following the incident, the supermarket rewarded Cruz with 20,000 Mexican pesos (approximately $1,184) and named him Manager of the Year.
