Luis Daer, prominent Argentine criminal lawyer, dies
Renowned criminal defense attorney Luis Daer has died at the Sanatorio Modelo de Quilmes following a stroke.
Daer was a prominent figure in the Argentine legal community, particularly in Quilmes. He was well known for his involvement in high-profile national cases, most notably defending former President Carlos Menem in the illegal arms sales to Ecuador case. Daer served as an advisor in the National Senate for nine years and maintained a close professional and personal friendship with Menem.
His career was marked by significant events, including a 2022 incident where he sustained a serious gunshot wound at his home in Bernal. After a lengthy recovery, he successfully returned to his legal practice. Most recently, in July, he celebrated his marriage to María Ángeles Brambilla in a private ceremony.
