Luis de la Fuente receives honorary doctorate from UCAM

Spanish national football team coach Luis de la Fuente has been awarded an honorary doctorate (doctor honoris causa) by the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM). The ceremony took place at the Monasterio de Los Jerónimos, coinciding with the university's 30th anniversary and the official opening of the new academic year.

During his investiture speech, titled ‘The values of football as a school of life’, De la Fuente emphasized the importance of personal development, stating, ‘First, you have to form people and then footballers.’ He encouraged coaches to prioritize the personal growth of players alongside their athletic abilities.

De la Fuente expressed deep gratitude for the distinction, noting it was something he never dreamed of. He also commented on the sense of unity the national team brings to the country and praised the high level of Spanish football, specifically highlighting the performance of Spanish clubs in European competitions.
