Luis Donaldo Colosio defends Sonoran identity amid political dispute

Senator Luis Donaldo Colosio Riojas of Movimiento Ciudadano has defended his identity as a native of Sonora following challenges from the Morena party regarding his place of birth. The dispute arose after reports circulated suggesting Colosio was born in Mexico City, a claim he dismissed as a political attempt to disqualify him ahead of the 2027 Sonora gubernatorial elections.

Colosio asserted that he has consistently identified as being from Magdalena de Kino, Sonora, in all academic and electoral documentation. To reinforce his claim, he cited the State Constitution of Sonora, which recognizes children of Sonoran parents born elsewhere in Mexico as natives, and even offered to share his baptismal invitation as proof of his lifelong connection to the region.

In Culiacán, Sinaloa, Governor Graciela Domínguez Nava launched the construction of the first 'México Imparable' Community Center.
