Renowned Spanish sports journalist Luis Fermoso has passed away at the age of 53 in Salamanca after a battle with cancer.

Fermoso was a central figure in Spanish sports broadcasting, particularly through his long association with Movistar Plus and Canal+. He was widely recognized for his ability to humanize sports through cinematic and narrative storytelling. He played a vital role in iconic programs such as ‘Informe Robinson’, where he served as the creative engine and right-hand man to the late Michael Robinson, as well as ‘El Día Después’ and ‘Reportajes Vamos’.

His professional legacy includes directing significant documentary projects, such as the series ‘Colgar las alas’ regarding goalkeeper Iker Casillas. Following the news of his death, Movistar Plus described him as ‘an exceptional person and an admirable professional’ who served as the ‘soul of sports’ for the network.
