Luis Gomez and Julio Dilone suspended for failed drug tests

Free agent minor league pitchers Luis Gomez and Julio Dilone have been suspended following positive tests for the performance-enhancing substance Stanozolol. The commissioner’s office announced that Gomez will serve an 80-game suspension, while Dilone will serve 60 games. Both suspensions are set to begin once the players sign with a major league organization.

Dilone, a 26-year-old right-hander, most recently played for two low-level teams this season after a stint in the Atlantic League and a spring training deal with the San Diego Padres. Gomez, a 21-year-old right-hander, previously pitched for the Florida Complex League Marlins before his release in July.

This incident marks the eleventh player disciplined for drug violations this year under the league's programs. Other recent disciplinary actions include season-long suspensions for Jurickson Profar and an 80-game ban for Max Kepler.
