Luis Guembes murder trial: Victim allegedly targeted over £40 debt

During the fifth day of the trial at Guildford Crown Court, a jury heard allegations that 15-year-old Luis Guembes was targeted to recover a £40 debt related to a damaged mobile phone.

A witness testifying via video link stated that one of the defendants, who is 16 and cannot be identified, had planned a confrontation to seize the phone. The witness recalled the defendant saying, “I’ll jump him if he doesn't give the phone up.” The court also heard claims regarding a comment about “staining” the victim, which the witness interpreted as a reference to stabbing, though the witness described the remark as a joke.

Both defendants deny the charge of murder. The trial continues following evidence regarding planned confrontations and previous possession of knives by one of the accused.
