Luis Hernandez secures UFC contract after Contender Series win
Luis Hernandez, a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office officer, has secured a UFC contract following a performance on Dana White’s Contender Series. Hernandez, known in the MMA community as ‘The Stache’, improved his professional record to 8-0 after a comeback victory against Hugo Guillon. Despite facing a knockdown and potential submission in the second round, Hernandez secured a win via a rear-naked choke.
Hernandez previously gained public attention following a physical altercation with former UFC champion Sean Strickland during an event in June 2025. Following that incident, Strickland received a six-month suspension and a $5,000 fine, though the two men reportedly resolved their personal dispute.
Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz publicly congratulated Hernandez on his achievement, noting the difficulty of balancing a professional fighting career with the demands of law enforcement.
