Luis Munguía inaugurates Avenida México expansion in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González has officially opened the renovated stretch of Avenida México, connecting Parque Hidalgo to the city's Malecón. The project covers a two-block section between Argentina and 31 de Octubre streets.

The infrastructure improvements include elevated surface levels to enhance stormwater drainage through new storm drains, as well as the use of materials such as porphyry stone, washed seals, and Wixárika-inspired stamped patterns to harmonize the area with the Malecón. The project also features new illuminated bollards.

The opening follows a year of construction that exceeded original deadlines and faced initial protests from local residents and merchants. To address concerns regarding traffic and pedestrian use, the city has implemented a two-month pilot program. During this period, vehicular traffic will be permitted while authorities maintain a dialogue with citizens and local business owners to evaluate the project's functionality and make necessary adjustments.
