Luis Ángel Malagón discusses recovery and competition
Club América goalkeeper Luis Ángel Malagón has addressed his return to professional football following a significant Achilles tendon injury that caused him to miss the World Cup and various tournaments with Liga MX and the Concacaf Champions Cup.
Malagón revealed that the period away from the pitch was mentally challenging, noting that he experienced depression and discouragement. He credited his recovery to his family, his medical and technical staff, and a renewed focus on professionalism, which included losing several kilograms to better care for his body.
Regarding his professional standing, Malagón expressed readiness to compete for his position within both Club América and the Mexican national team. He spoke respectfully of his teammates and competitors, including Rodolfo Cota, Fernando Tapia, and national team goalkeeper Raúl Rangel, describing the internal competition as healthy rather than malicious.
