Luis Petri hosts meeting regarding Mendoza school admission dispute

Luis Petri, former Minister of Defense and member of La Libertad Avanza, has provided the venue for a meeting between national deputies and parents regarding an educational dispute in Mendoza. The conflict centers on the IV Brigada Aérea, a traditional school in El Plumerillo that prepares students for careers in the Air Force or civil aviation.

Parents of prospective first-year students for 2027 are protesting changes to admission conditions, specifically the removal of a historical entrance exam. While the Mendoza General Directorate of Schools has upheld current measures applied to all public schools in the province, the meeting hosted by Petri’s foundation, ‘Mendocinos por el futuro’, signals a political move that challenges the administration of Governor Alfredo Cornejo.

Legislators Mercedes Llano and Álvaro Martínez participated in the meeting. Llano criticized the decision to suppress the meritocratic exam, arguing it undermines the prestige and specialized profile of the institution.
