Luis Pérez Novas files complaint over threats against family

Luis Pérez Novas, president of the Dominican College of Journalists (CDP), has filed a formal complaint with the Santo Domingo Oeste Prosecutor's Office following persistent death threats against him and his family. Pérez Novas identified the alleged perpetrator as Santiago Ángeles, claiming the individual has harassed them because Pérez previously sought legal action against him.

Pérez Novas reported that the threats have caused significant fear, noting that previous complaints resulted in the suspect being released. He also stated that past incidents involving the suspect have led to physical harm to women and children, including a seven-year-old with special needs.

The Marcelino Vega Movement (MMV) has expressed solidarity with the CDP president and is calling for urgent intervention from Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso and District National Prosecutor Rosalba Ramos to ensure the family's safety and prevent further violence.
