Luis Rubiales threatens legal action after televised clash with Pablo Fernández

Former RFEF president Luis Rubiales engaged in a heated confrontation with Podemos Secretary of Organization Pablo Fernández during a television appearance on the program ‘En boca de todos’. The discussion, which began regarding the distribution of venues for the 2030 World Cup, escalated into a political and legal dispute.

Rubiales criticized the Spanish government and Pedro Sánchez, alleging that the administration has disadvantaged Spain in the tournament organization by losing the opening match and risking the final. The tension peaked when Fernández questioned Rubiales’s authority and referred to his leadership as reminiscent of “Ali Baba and the 40 thieves.”

The exchange turned more severe when Fernández called Rubiales a “convicted sexual aggressor,” citing ongoing investigations into his management. Rubiales responded by stating, “This is already actionable,” threatening legal consequences for the remarks while maintaining his presumption of innocence until a final sentence is reached.
