Luis Scola says NBA Europe will replace EuroLeague
Former Argentine basketball star Luis Scola told the En Modo Avión podcast that European clubs are losing money because they spend most of their revenue on player salaries. He argued that the NBA’s model, which he says can better control spending, will eventually be adopted in Europe. Scola predicted that a new competition called “NBA Europe” or “NBA EuroLeague” will supplant the current EuroLeague, giving clubs a more sustainable financial structure. He also noted his own role as chief executive at Barcelona’s basketball operation, saying the club has already begun to think and act like an NBA franchise in anticipation of that shift.
