Luis Suárez’s training incident at Sporting ruled non‑disciplinary

Sporting CP said that Luis Suárez’s actions during a closed‑door training session were not a case of indiscipline and no sanction will be taken. The Colombian striker completed a biometric data exercise under physical trainer Fernando Morato, was told the session was still ongoing, and returned to the pitch for a supplementary drill.

The club clarified that the incident does not constitute misconduct. Suárez, who recently returned from the World Cup, has logged 4,367 minutes in 53 matches this season, scoring 38 goals and providing seven assists. He is expected to start on the bench for the opening league match against Estrela da Amadora, with teammate Ioannidis favored to start.

Suárez also posted a faith‑based message on social media, quoting Psalm 16:8 and stating, “Nothing will make me fall,” after the training episode.
