Luis Vega announces retirement from music due to depression

Bolivian singer Luis Vega has announced the closure of his musical project, ‘Puro Papel y Lápiz’, citing a severe struggle with depression. In a video shared on social media, the artist, who also identified himself as Luis Soliz, revealed that he has been experiencing sadness, a lack of energy, and a loss of interest in his professional activities for several months.

Vega explained that his mental health crisis has impacted his ability to create music and perform, noting that he has had to rely on medication to function. He expressed concern over the toll his career has taken on his personal life, stating that he felt he was losing himself and missing valuable time with his wife and children.

To conclude this stage of his career, Vega has scheduled three final concerts for 2027. He stated that the decision to ‘stop dead in one's tracks’ was necessary to prioritize his recovery and spend more time with his family.
