Luisa González to Register Candidacy for Manabí Prefecture in Ecuador

Former presidential candidate Luisa González announced she will file her candidacy for the Prefecture of Manabí next week, targeting the 2026 regional elections. She declined to name the political movement that will back her, saying its leader had been threatened and even offered money to be bought off, adding, "La inscribo la siguiente semana… ¿Por qué movimiento? No lo voy a decir aún, porque ya fue amenazado el directivo del movimiento."

González also referenced Chone mayor Leonardo Rodríguez, who withdrew his own bid for the same office and will support Marcos Zambrano. She warned of a "secuestro de la democracia" and alleged that political organizations are being pursued and silenced.
