Luisana Lopilato stars in film about Argentine legend Margarita Di Tullio

The film ‘Pepita, la Pistolera’, directed by Lucía Puenzo and starring Luisana Lopilato, recreates the true story of Margarita Di Tullio, a figure who became a legend in Mar del Plata during the 1980s.

Set during the winter of 1985, the narrative follows Di Tullio, a pregnant sex worker who challenged a system of corruption, police negligence, and exploitation. After three men broke into her home, she killed them in self-defense and was subsequently acquitted. The film explores her complex identity as she built a clandestine empire to protect other women from violence and exploitation in a city marked by organized crime.

The production features an ensemble cast including Claudio Tolcachir, Alberto Ajaka, and Charo López, aiming to portray Di Tullio not merely as a victim or a criminal, but as a contradictory figure navigating a violent social landscape.
