Luise Bähr leaves ZDF series Die Bergretter after 12 years

Actress Luise Bähr is departing the ZDF series ‘Die Bergretter’ after playing emergency doctor Katharina Strasser since 2014. The actress expressed mixed emotions regarding her exit, stating, “It makes me sad on one hand and I am grateful on the other.”

In the upcoming 18th season, Bähr’s character faces a dramatic storyline involving a leukemia diagnosis. The series concludes her arc in the episode titled ‘Die letzte Rettung’. Following her departure from the mountain-based production, Bähr will transition to a new ZDF crime series currently working under the working title ‘SOKO Spurenjäger’, set in Northern Germany.

Fans have reacted with significant disappointment on social media, with some expressing intentions to boycott the series due to the loss of a central character.
