Luiz Gutemberg, a prominent Brazilian journalist, writer, and political analyst, has died in Brasília at the age of 88 due to pneumonia. He passed away while receiving treatment at the Hospital do Coração.

Gutemberg had a distinguished career spanning several decades and major media outlets. He began his journey in the late 1950s at Jornal do Brasil and later worked for Revista Veja and Rede Bandeirantes, where he covered significant historical events such as the 1989 elections and the impeachment of Fernando Collor. In Brasília, he was a key figure at Jornal de Brasília, where he served as director and was noted for implementing innovative editorial structures.

Beyond journalism, Gutemberg was an accomplished author and playwright. His literary works include the novel ‘O Jogo da Gata Parida’ and the biography ‘Moisés, codinome Ulysses Guimarães’. He was also recognized for his contributions to theater and was an honorary citizen of Brasília, having served as a professor at the University of Brasília.
