Luiz Romero Farias named first substitute for Arthur Lira in Alagoas Senate race

Luiz Romero Farias has been officially named as the first substitute for Federal Deputy Arthur Lira in the 2026 Senate race for Alagoas. The nomination was formalized by the PL party during a convention registered with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

Romero Farias, a physician and former Health Secretary of Maceió, previously ran for the same position in 2018. Arthur Lira, who is shifting his political focus toward a bid for the governorship of Alagoas, will be part of a ticket alongside JHC, which includes Marina Candia and Senator Eudócia Caldas as a substitute.
