Luiz Toffoli releases progressive metal single inspired by Edgar Allan Poe

Guitarist and composer Luiz Toffoli has released a new progressive metal single titled ‘The Raven’. The composition is inspired by the classic poem of the same name by American writer Edgar Allan Poe.

The track aims to translate the dark, psychological atmosphere of Poe’s 1845 work into a musical format, exploring themes of grief, darkness, obsession, and solitude. Toffoli incorporates various literary elements from the poem—such as the setting of a December midnight, the repetitive refrain of ‘Nevermore’, and the presence of the black bird—to reconstruct the claustrophobic environment described in the text.

Musically, the single combines progressive metal with symphonic elements and heavy melodies to mirror the emotional deterioration and psychological terror experienced by the poem's protagonist.
