Luiza Zveiter reveals severe bariatric surgery complications, tooth loss
Globo reporter Luiza Zveiter disclosed that a bariatric surgery she underwent at age 18 led to chronic vomiting, severe anemia, multiple vitamin deficiencies and intestinal problems. The repeated vomiting caused acid erosion that resulted in the loss of eight teeth – four upper and four lower – and required her to receive dental crowns, totaling eight crowns by the time she was 43.
She also described weight fluctuations, later reaching 89 kg before stabilising at 61 kg, and a recent loss of lean muscle mass due to intense work schedules. The experience forced her to change her eating habits, adopting slower, more mindful consumption to avoid further gastrointestinal distress.
