BC Roma SPQR, a newly created Italian basketball club co‑founded by NBA star Luka Dončić and former Mavericks GM Donnie Nelson, is preparing for its debut in the Serie A 2026‑27 season and a concurrent EuroCup campaign. The organisation is actively seeking a head coach, with former NBA coach Dwane Casey – now senior adviser for the Detroit Pistons – reported as the leading candidate. Other names under consideration include former Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts and Knicks assistant Riccardo Fois.

The club aims to build a competitive roster quickly and has expressed long‑term ambitions of joining a proposed NBA Europe competition. Its ownership also features Lithuanian basketball legend Rimantas Kaukenas and veteran Italian coach Valerio Bjankini, underscoring the high‑profile nature of the project.
