Luka Mesec files criminal complaint over drone privacy breach
Luka Mesec, a Ljubljana mayoral candidate and Levica co-coordinator, has filed a criminal complaint following reports of a drone filming the interior of his apartment. Mesec stated that neighbors observed a drone hovering near his windows on consecutive evenings, prompting him to contact the police.
Journalist Bojan Požar subsequently shared a video on X, which allegedly shows Mesec reacting to the drone. Mesec has responded by proposing criminal prosecution against Požar, citing Article 138 of the Penal Code, which prohibits unauthorized filming that significantly violates privacy. Požar claimed the footage was received via email alongside an offer to purchase more videos, suggesting the scene appeared staged.
Anonymous entities, including a group identified as “Black Cube,” reportedly offered various videos of Mesec for sale in cryptocurrency. Meanwhile, political figures have weighed in on the incident. Prime Minister Janez Janša claimed drones have also been sent over his residence, while MP Katja Kokot accused President Nataša Pirc Musar of double standards for not condemning the breach as strongly as she has in other instances.
