Luka Modrić signs new deal with AC Milan through 2027

Croatian captain Luka Modrić confirmed he has extended his contract with Serie A club AC Milan until 30 June 2027. In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 40‑year‑old explained that he delayed signing to assess his physical condition and motivation, saying he wanted to be sure he was still “hungry for success” and felt “fantastic” about continuing.

Modrić highlighted the trust and loyalty shown by the club and its supporters as the main factor in his decision, noting Milan gave him “confidence and affection” after the World Cup. He also paid tribute to late Milan legend Franco Baresi, expressing a desire to win a trophy for the club and dedicate it to Baresi’s memory.

Reflecting on the previous season, Modrić admitted disappointment that Milan missed Champions League qualification and that an injury limited his contribution in the crucial final matches. He welcomed the appointment of new head coach Rúben Amorim and praised the arrival of striker Gonçalo Ramos, indicating optimism for a more successful campaign.
