Luka Modric's AC Milan Stay Dependent on Champions League Spot and Coach Allegri

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, the 40‑year‑old 2018 Ballon d'Or winner, is prepared to extend his contract with AC Milan only if two conditions are met. First, the club must qualify for next season's Champions League, which requires a top‑four finish in Serie A. The upcoming match against Cagliari is crucial for securing that position. Second, current manager Massimiliano Allegri must remain in charge, as Modric says his future is tied to the coach’s continued presence.

Modric’s current deal expires on 30 June, with an option to extend until 2027. Since joining Milan on 14 July last year, he has made 36 appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists in Serie A, plus cameo appearances in the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana. He expressed his priority, stating: "I am very happy at Milan, but the most important thing now is the match against Cagliari and Champions League qualification."
