Lukas Märtens targets European Swimming Championship gold in Paris

German swimmer Lukas Märtens is preparing to compete in the European Swimming Championships in Paris. The 2024 Olympic champion aims to build on his previous successes in the city, specifically targeting gold in the 400-meter freestyle. A victory in that event would allow him to hold the titles of Olympic champion, world champion, European champion, and world record holder simultaneously.

Märtens also intends to pursue a medal in the 200-meter freestyle. Despite recent shoulder issues, national coach Bernd Berkhahn reported that Märtens' training impressions have been positive. The competition begins with the 4x200 meter freestyle relay.
