Górnik Zabrze defeats Wisła Kraków amid refereeing criticism

Górnik Zabrze secured a 2-1 victory against Wisła Kraków in the Ekstraklasa, maintaining their unbeaten streak. The match was marked by controversy regarding officiating, specifically the performance of referee Damian Sylwestrzak. Following the game, club owner Lukas Podolski criticized the standard of refereeing in the league, stating that while Polish football is progressing, the quality of officiating remains stagnant and VAR is not providing sufficient assistance.

The match also saw Sondre Liseth receive a red card after two yellow cards, leaving Wisła Kraków with ten men. This second yellow card puts Liseth at risk of a mandatory suspension if he receives a fourth yellow card this season.

Looking ahead to European competition, Górnik Zabrze is set to face AS Monaco in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers. The club is currently undergoing a period of transition as Podolski continues to reshape the squad through new signings.
